Jabatan Perangkaan Malaysia or The Department of Statistics Malaysia was established in 1949 under the Statistics Ordinance 1949 and was then known as Bureau of Statistics. The statistics produced then was limited to external trade and estate agriculture.

In 1965, the name of Bureau of Statistics was changed to the Department of Statistics, Malaysia and was operating under the provisions of Statistics Act 1965. The Department’s functions and role had expanded whereby the data/information collected included the economy and social areas.

The Department of Statistics Malaysia is a premier government agency under the Prime Minister’s Department entrusted with the responsibility to collect, interpret and disseminate latest and real time statistics in the monitoring of national economic performance and social development.

The Department’s headquarters is located in the Federal Government Administrative Center, Putrajaya and has state offices in every state. Operational offices were set up in several states to further strengthen the data collection activities.

Under the “Statistics Act 1965 (Revised 1989)”, the main functions of the department are:

  • To collect and interpret statistics for the purpose of formulation or implementation of government policies in whatever fields as needed by the government or for fulfilling the requirements of trade, commerce, industry, agriculture or others
  • To disseminate statistics which have been collected or interpretation based on statistics collected, not only to government agencies but also to authorities or persons where the information is useful to them

Jawatan Kosong SPA – Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Awam (SPA) or Public Services Commission of Malaysia (PSC) was founded on the 31st of August 1957 which happens to be the same day as the historic Independence Day of Malay Peninsular during the reign of the British, the administration of the Federated Malay States was handled by the British. The declaration of Independence on the 31st of August 1957 itself has initiated a new supreme and independent order and leadership in the Federation of Malay Peninsular. Officially, the Public Services Commission was formed according to Article 144(1) of the Federal Constitution.

PSC’s Functions

The Public Services Commission of Malaysia’s function under Article 144(1) of the Federal Constitution stipulated 6 main functions of the Commission, which are;

  1. APPOINTMENT
  2. CONFIRMATION OF SERVICE
  3. CONFERMENT INTO PENSION STATUS
  4. PROMOTION
  5. TRANSFER
  6. EXERCISE DISCIPLINARY CONTROL

PSC’s Roles

Functions carried out by the PSC is as stipulated in the Federal Constitution and it includes the following:

APPOINTMENT
The Commission manages the appointment of personnel in the Public Service on permanent, temporary, contractual, temporary transfer and loan status. It also has the authority to terminate the services of personnel in the Public Service according to the appointment’s directive. In addition, the Commission has empowered Ministries and Federal Departments as well as relevant State’s Administrative Government for posts in the Support Group (Group C and D JKK).

CONFIRMATION OF SERVICE
The Commission has the authority to confirm personnel in the Public Service of their services, to extend trial period, to return a personnel to an original post or to terminate the services due to failure at being confirmed of their services. It has empowered the Ministries and Federal Departments as well as relevant State’s Administrative Government to confirm the services for posts in the Support Group (Group C and D JKK).

CONFERMENT INTO PENSION STATUS
The Commission manages the conferment into pension status of personnel in the Public Service who are confirmed in service and has served in services deemed pension status for not less than 3 years. This does not relate to the Support Group (Group D JKK).

TRANSFER OF SERVICES
The Commission has the authority to transfer permanent personnel in Public Service from one scheme of service to another scheme, and from one service to another scheme of service of equal grade. It also has the authority to transfer permanent officers appointed on temporary transfer or loan.

PROMOTION
The Commission functions as a Board of Promotion for promotion to posts for members from the Public Service Boards of Promotion as well as promotion to a higher grade under the Integrated Service Scheme. Additionally, it also functions as a Board of Appeal for the Public Service Promotion as provided under the relevant Orders of the Public Service’s Board of Promotion.

DISPLINARY CONTROL
The Commission is a relevant Disciplinary Authority for disciplinary actions with the purpose of dismissal or demotion of officers in the Highest Management Group and the Professional Management Group. It also acts as the Public Service Disciplinary Board of Appeal as provided by the relevant Orders of the Public Service Disciplinary Board.

Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Pulau Pinang – PPAPP or The Penang Public Library Corporation (PPLC) started its services in January 1973 after it took over the management of Penang Library, the first subscription library in Malaysia since its services started in 1817. Enactment PPAPP 1972 that was passed by the Penang State Legislative Assembly on the 7th August 1972 specifies that PPLC is the Corporation to provide library services and facilities to the public in Penang and to further increase the use of information and library materials in the state.

The Penang Public Library Corporation now has a network of electronic libraries that is able to cater to the needs of the Penang public and at the same time manages to narrow the gap between the information rich and the information poor where all libraries are connected on line. Presently the corporation has one (1) central library in Seberang Jaya, five (5) branches that are in George Town, Balik Pulau, Bukit Mertajam, Jawi and a Children’s Library in Scotland Road, George Town. There are two (2) town libraries, each in Bagan Ajam and Simpang Ampat and Three (3) more ini shopping complexes that is in KOMTAR, Mayang Mall in Bayan Baru and AEON Seberang Perai City. The Corporation also has a network of cyber village libraries spread all over Penang totaling fourty eight (48) and another thirty three (33) village libraries funded and built by the National Library Malaysia.

Alongside these static libraries, the corporation has twelve (12) mobile libraries making stops at places without a village library. Two (2) of these mobiles libraries have been renovated and modified to the needs of disabled persons. Compared to the other mobile libraries. these two mobile libraries have some differences in terms of its collection and games. This is one of the way the corporation hopes to service the public with due regard to the disabled so that this special user group will not be left behind in getting information and knowledge.

FUNCTION

  • PPAPP responsibility to provide good library service, high quality and comprehensive for all people in Penang.

OBJECTIVES

  • Ensure collection of PPAPP upgradeable to 70 000 books and 6000 material’s media.
  • Ensure 60% of PPAPP collection are in malay which is intended to make PPAPP as language centre of excellence.
  • Period to ensure that the use of media meterials within 10 minutes maintained.

Origin of name ‘Ampang’

  • Ampang name is derived from the construction of dams being built in Bukit Belacan to urban areas Ampang (currently known as Ampang Point) by Chinese miners to work the tin mines.
  • Kepelatan among Chinese pronunciation cause the word ‘dam’ to ‘ampang.
  • History Ampang Kuala Lumpur is related to history as developed by the same people of Yap Ah Loy (Chinese mine operators). The original inhabitants of the Malays in Ampang area are descendants of Bugis from Indonesia.

Immensity

Mukim Ampang is the smallest county in the district. Is 3,859 hectares in area. There are 12 villages in Mukim Ampang, among which are: –

  • Kampung Ampang Indah

Pre Ampang Merdeka

  • King Abdullah was the first King of the Klang District has opened the tin mines in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.
  • King Abdullah has led a total of 87 Chinese workers from Boro and live in the Klang River. While he and his followers reached the crossroads of the Klang River and Gombak Rivers he has named the place as’ Lumpor.
  • After Japan’s defeat in the Second World War and the defeat of the transition between the reign of the British government, Malaya, was dominated by communists or so-called Three Stars (within fourteen days of communist rule Malaya).
  • Pursuant to this rule, Bukit Belacan located in Ampang has been made of the Japanese followers beheaded by the communists.
  • During the May 13 incident that occurred in 1969, Ampang is not involved in any arguments, fights or bloodshed due to strict controls that are arranged by the government at the time as well as the wisdom of the leaders of the community take care of the Malays and Chinese sentiments.

Majlis Agama Islam Dan Adat Istiadat Melayu Kelantan – MAIK was established on 17 Safar 1334 H corresponding December 24, 1915. establishment is aimed at advising Down Majesty the Sultan as the Head of the Religion of State relating to the affairs of religion and Malay customs Bihar.

Its establishment was opened by the late Sultan Muhammad IV who ruled Bihar at that time. The Council was originally located in Building Land and District Office in front of the palace of Kota Bharu Central.

Later on August 19, 1917, the building was moved to its own building which is in a wooden building in the adjoint Masjid Muhammadi. Council eventually moved to New Building on February 16, 1990

A five-member Supervisory Council appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is created to ensure that BERNAMA is always guided by the provisions of the Act in implementing its objectives.

BERNAMA’s role as a source of reliable and latest news is well known among local & international media including government agencies, corporations, universities and individuals nationwide.

Most Malaysian newspapers and electronic media and other international news agencies are BERNAMA subscribers. BERNAMA is operating in the information industry, which is competitive but has tremendous growth potential.
